About The Chemistry Department
The Chemistry Department of Barasat College is an integral part of the institution and currently offers B.SC in Chemistry (Honours and General) courses to the students. The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2004 as a general course. The Honours course was started in the year 2012.
Chemistry is a subject in which students essentially learn about the fundamental principles that govern the behavior of matter and its interactions with other substances. At the Chemistry Department, students are supposed to take courses in general and organic chemistry, as well as more specialized topics like Fortran Programing, Polymer chemistry, green chemistry, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry. They will also engage in laboratory skill development under the guidance of experienced faculty members. The department typically has a faculty of experienced educators, who provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their chosen careers. Graduates of a Chemistry Department can go on to pursue careers in a wide range of fields, from pharmaceuticals to environmental science to materials science and beyond.
